Stachybotrys, also known as black mold, is a greenish-black substance that is seen mainly on items having a lot of moisture. Items such as paper, wallboard and fiberboard are commonly infected with black mold. According to Center of Disease Control, this black mold is responsible for cases of lung disorders. Practically, every place has at least one type of mold. Although not all types are toxic, it is difficult to distinguish types, unless you test in a lab. Thus, it is important to treat and fully remove all molds. Mold spores are easily transferred to different areas with the help of various hosts including animals, people, shoes and even air. The spores then bloom and grow where there is a higher moisture level. Toxic molds generally develop from water seepage. Black mold is not as common as other species of mold but is not rare. Black mold can be found on wall paneling, cardboard, ceiling tiles and even on items made of cotton. It is essential to keep your place moisture-free and warm due to the fact that black mold needs moisture to grow. If you repair leakages in time, you can surely stop the growth of black mold from infecting the place, and indirectly the humans. There is no way you can fully prevent infection, but you can certainly restrict its growth.
